JUNIOR A FINAL

Cahir 0-17 Cashel 2-6

A young Cahir team powered to victory in the last 10 minutes of this exciting Camogie final in the Ragg on Saturday last.

Playing with the wind Cashel settled with an early point from Orla O Dwyer this was followed by a pointed free by Cahir's Roisin Howard after she was up ended by Ciara O' Sullivan.

Orla O' Dwyer had a great shot smothered by a brave Orla McEniry in the Cahir goal but she soon made amends when firing home and unstoppable shot.  Cashel were awaded a penalty but great work from Emma Buckley saw her  save the penalty on the line and Cahir cleared the ball.

The teams exchanged points in what was a close first half. Caral Casey and Emma Buckley scoring from play for Cahir, followed by points from Cashels Emily Hayden and Alison Lonergan, Cahir finished the half with a sweet score from Caoimhe Condon and a pointed free from Roisin Howard. Half time score Cashel 1-4 Cahir 0-5

Despite playing against the wind Cashel made the livelier start to the second half. Emily Hayden scorning a point from play which was followed by a superb Orla O' Dwyer goal when she raced down the left wing and shot into the roof of the Cahir net surely a future Tipperary star .

Cahir gradually got back in to the game with 2 more points from Ashling Moloney who was making a major impact since having been introduced at half time.

Cashel squandered one or two chances due to the tight defensive work of Roisin Costigan, Aoife Corcoran and Lorna McEniry.

Roisin Howard scored a terrific point from play to level the game after great battling by Caral Casey at mid field.

Cashel won a penalty after Aoife Casey  fouled Emily Hayden which was saved on the line by Orla McEniry.

From there to the end, Cashel could only manage one point from Emily Hayden while Cahir finished with a Roisin Howard pointed free, four superb points from play by Ashling Moloney and a point from Caoimhe Condon who was dangerous all day.

Both teams gave it their all and provided ample entertainment for the crowd. The skill and commitment level on show was awesome at times. With player of the match Laura Dillon giving a fearless display throughout the game despite getting injured early on.

Michelle Walsh was unlucky to see her goal shot just go wide after she tried to place the ball in the corner of the net. Eadaoin O Gorman and Grainne Quirke battled hard as did Clara O' Donnell and Ashling Condon. Laura Fitzpatrick and Kirsty Arbuclke helped the Cahir cause when introduced.

Congratulations to Cahir Management team of Marie Casey, Carol Keating, Mary Howard, John Quirke and Wally Costigan. They can be proud of their charges and look forward to Intermediate status next year.  (referee John lillis Drom & Inch)
