2014 CHAMPIONSHIP GETS UNDERWAY

The First round of matches in Senior A, Intermediate and Junior matches were played last weekend.

In the Senior A competition Champions Granagh Ballingarry bounced back from their League Final defeat to record a 1-17 to 0-9 win over last year's defeated finalists Ahane. Newly crowned League Champions Newcastle West were narrowly defeated 2-11 to 2-8 by Killeedy in what was the closest of the senior matches. In the final game Ballyagran were way too strong for Galbally reocridng a 4-12 to 0-2 win.

In the Intermediate Championship there were wins for Tournafulla over Feenagh Kilmeedy, Na Piarsaigh over Kilmallock and League champions Clanmaurice of Kerry over Cappamore.

Only one game was played in the Junior Championship as Shannonside had a walkover Killeedy. In the game that was played Crecora Glantine were decisive winners 3-7 to 1-2 over Knockaderry.

The club game takes a break now until 31st August for Adult grades with underage competitions starting on 22nd of August with the first outing in the U16 championship.

Focus now turns to the inter-county scene with Limerick facing Waterford in the Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Intermediate Semi-Finals in Dr Cullen Park, Carlow on Sat 16th August. Kildare will play Kilkenny in the other semi-final in a double-header on the same day.

The following week Limerick will play Carlow in the Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Junior A Final on Sun August 24th time and venue tbc.
