Victory for Ratoath U16 camogs
May 02, 2013
Under 16 Camogie Championsh
Ratoath 4-5
Dunboyne 0 - 5
Ratoath continued their Championship campaign in style with a convincing win over Dunboyne. This is their third match of their Championship campaign following a win against Boardsmill and a drawn match with Kilmessan. On a perfect evening for camogie and with the pitch in great condition Ratoath meant business from the start. Eimear Cooke opened the scoring with a point after 9 minutes of intense attacks on the Dunboyne goal. Ratoath only added a further 3 points to the scoreboard before half time as a result of 8 wides. Although Dunboyne were far from out of the game they didnt manage to score in the first half. The second half produced another strong performance from the girls in blue and yellow and they started to net the ball with the first goal coming from Eimear Cooke, followed by 2 goals from Clodagh Griffiths and a fabulous free into the back of the net from Niamh McLoughlin. Dunboyne's 5 points came from 4 frees and 1 from play. This was not Dunboyne's night and Ratoath brought their final score to 4 - 5 to 5 points. Ratoath's encounters with Dunboyne over the years have always been highly contested games over the years and the matches have always been very competitive but tonight Ratoath's performance was too much for Dunboyne. While this will add to Ratoath's confidence they know that it would be foolish to rule Dunboyne out of the Championship yet. There is plenty more to be played for!!
