Hickey blow for Cats

July 21, 2005
Kilkenny manager Brian Cody has a number of injury worries ahead of Sunday week's All-Ireland quarter-final against Limerick in Croke Park. Fullback Noel Hickey is almost certain to miss the clash with the Shannonsiders as he is suffering from a viral infection that has threatened to rule him out for the remainder of the year. The full extent of Hickey's illness is now yet known, but Kilkenny county board secretary Pat Dunphy admitted the former All-Star is rated extremely doubtful. "Noel is a big doubt for the Limerick game at this stage," said Dunphy. "I'm not exactly sure what the medical diagnosis is but we believe he has a form of viral infection." Meanwhile, skipper Peter Barry is struggling with a leg injury and corner forward Richie Power is carrying a shoulder injury sustained in last night's (Wednesday) Leinster Under-21 final win over Dublin.
