A routine victory over Claremorris this afternoon sees Castlebar Mitchels in a strong position to claim a fourth Mayo SFC title in a row.

The reigning champions emerged comfortable 1-20 to 2-9 winners in their quarter-final clash at MacHale Park to book a last four date with Ballintubber - a repeat of last year's Moclair Cup decider.

The game was effectively over as a contest after 20 minutes when Mitchels led by 0-10 to 0-0.

Conor Diskin's goal opened Claremorris' account on 27 minutes and Mitchels replied instantly at the far end with a major of their own from Aidan Walsh to hold a 1-12 to 1-0 half-time advantage.

Ballaghaderreen are the last team through to the last four where they will meet Breaffy after they saw off Garrymore in the second game, 3-11 to 0-18.

A brace of first-half goals from Darragh Kelly was key for Ballagh' who were ahead 2-4 to 0-7 at the break. Cian Hanley netted their third goal three minutes after the restart to leave them seven in front.

Garrymore fought back with points from Paul Deeley and Cathal Slattery but those goals proved crucial as Ballagh' completed the line-up for the semi-finals which will be played in two weeks' time.
