Cats seek football round robin series

Kilkenny footballers are to look for a round robin series to be introduced for the Leinster junior football championship.

The Cats currently play in the British junior football championship where they have had great success, winning the title three of the five years that they have competed in it.

However, logistically it has been tough for the Kilkenny squad travelling over and back to the U.K so often, while they have started to dominate the British scene and need a higher level of competition, according to Kilkenny football chairman Tom O'Reilly.

"If there was a round robin series in Leinster, there would be no need for us to travel for games in Britain," said O'Reilly.

Kilkenny's campaign came to an end last weekend when they were defeated by Galway in the All-Ireland JFC semi-final.
