Former All-Ireland winning captain Lester Ryan has quit Kilkenny's senior hurling panel.

The Irish Independent reports that the Clara clubman has departed Brian Cody's set-up after being left out of the squad for their final Leinster SHC round-robin victory over Wexford last Saturday night.

Ryan, who led his county to All-Ireland glory in 2014, has taken the decision this week as the Cats prepare for their provincial final date with Galway on July 1.
