John Kiely believes Limerick were full value for their six-point Munster SHC victory over Tipperary.

Speaking to RTÉ after his first championship win as Treaty County boss, Kiely commented: "We hadn't won a championship match in a couple of years. That was a little bit of a wait that was on us coming into the game.

"We had played quite well in the last number of months, but that's a big weight off our backs. We dominated really from start to finish and it was only a couple of goals that kept Tipp in it really.

"I just thought we were very solid all day.  We manned up really well. we dominated on their puckout. We finished very strong. Even in the last 15 minutes, buckets of ball went in around our defence but we always looked very secure on the ball."

Kiely stressed that his players won't be getting carried away ahead of their trip to Pairc Ui Chaoimh on June 2 for the next round of the new round-robin series.

"To get a home win is crucial in these competitions," said Kiely.

"It's a win under the belt but it's only one out of four. We go to Cork in two weeks' time and that's the only focus we'll have from now on."
