Longford forward Robbie Smyth is aiming to pick up his first Leinster championship win this weekend.

Smyth will line out for Longford against Laois in the Leinster SFC and is still seeking a first win in the provincial campaign.

In fairness, to the Abbeylara clubman, having made his debut in 2013, he was not involved with the county for the next two seasons, before returning to the fold last year.

Speaking to the Longford Leader, Smyth was keen to rectify that situation when he takes to the field on Sunday afternoon.

"I have never won a Leinster senior championship game with Longford and it would give me great satisfaction if we could manage to beat Laois," said Smyth.

"It's about seven weeks since we played them and it was disappointing to get beaten on that occasion. We will hopefully be able to improve on that performance and reverse the result.

"We are under no illusions of the task that we are facing and it is going to be tough."
