Former Kilkenny hurling star Michael Kavanagh has joined the Wicklow senior hurling management team as trainer.
A four-times All Star with the Cats, Kavanagh brings huge experience to the job, with an impressive playing CV that includes eight All Ireland SHC medals, 13 Leinsters, five national leagues and four Walsh Cups.
The Kilkenny man was also captain of Leinster's Railway Cup winning team in 2003.
Kavanagh called time on his illustrious intercounty career in 2011 but still lines out at club level for St Lachtain's.
Announcing the appointment, Wicklow manager Casey O'Brien said that the addition of the ex-Cat will bring the Garden County's young squad to a new level.
