Tipperary's Lar Corbett
Tipperary hat-trick hero Lar Corbett was named as the Sunday Game's All-Ireland hurling final Man of the Match last night.

The Thurles Sarsfields clubman, who is one of only a handful of survivors from Tipp's last Liam McCarthy Cup triumph in 2001, found the net once in the first half and twice in the second half as the Premier County ended Kilkenny's five-in-a-row bid with a resounding 4-17 to 1-18 victory.

The other nominees for the award were Tipperary left half-back Padraic Maher and centre-forward Noel McGrath.

The award, which was presented to Corbett at the Tipp victory banquet in Dublin's Burlington Hotel, was judged by the Sunday Game panel members Donal O'Grady, Pete Finnerty and Michael Duignan.
