Paul McGrane was delighted with Armagh's Ulster MFC quarter-final win over Cavan.

Having seen their lead reduced to the minimum with 18 minutes remaining, the Orchard responded impressively to run out 2-14 to 1-12 winners.

"We knew Cavan wouldn't give up, that they'd keep coming," the Armagh minor boss and former All-Ireland winning midfielder told the Irish News.

"The lads showed great character and will-to-win to keep their noses in front. There were some great blocks put in, but overall it was a tremendous team performance with every sector contributing to the win.

"It had to be a great performance from us as Cavan had a lot of last year's panel that made the Ulster final and they were always going to be there or thereabouts at the end."

A disappointed Cavan manager Danny Brady said: "It was hard for us to combat them physically. We thought they might have tired in the last quarter and we did get to within a point but, fair play to Armagh, we just didn't do enough to get over the line."
