Wicklow Vs Dublin
It's a pity there is only one player from Newtown on the panel, they played some nice football last year and 1 or 2 at least deserved a look!

Andy Halpin was in great form last year for the 'magpies' maybe if he hadn't of got injured he might of got another look from the wicklow selectors.

Some players playing last Sunday who I have never heard of!

Dean Odlums older brother Ross must surely be worth a look, he has a massive workrate in every match he plays he covers nearly every blade of grass on the pitch!

Wicklow Vs Carlow
Imagine what it’s like for Thomas right now and actually for the last two years. Every January the rumour mill kicks into action and his phone hops off the wall with calls from journalists looking for that sentence to launch a back page story. I wonder what his life is like in Fenagh? Does he go to the local pub and if so what’s the reception? In 40 years time will he still be remembered as the lad who jumped ship.
I wonder is it worth it? Is it worth it for him to play again for any county? What sort of reflection is it upon us as a society that we traipse after his every move as if he were a prize in some twisted raffle?
Can we not let the chap do what he wants without this bull? He seems like a sound bloke and if he did leave Carlow because of a job or an appartment, so what, take your heads out of the clouds lads, who wouldn’t is such a thing would benefit their lives, monetary or otherwise?
If he left for what he said he left for then fair play, either way, in the name of decency and humanity even, leave the chap alone and let him play football because he is a wonderful player to watch regardless of what jersey is on his back, although if I were him I’d think twice about it, given the farce that has gone on since 2006.

Wicklow Vs Carlow
I really dont understand the big deal over Thomas Walshe. fair enough he has played well for Wicklow, but reading alot of these posts the only people who have bad feelings over him are the people from carlow maybe thats y he left.
Wicklow are actually wishing him well whatever he wants to do.
So if use are still feeling hard done by over him coming to wicklow in the first place think its time to get over it. And stop writing pointless posts trying to annoy people.
If he doesnt want to play for wicklow thats he choice like he obviously didnt want to play with carlow 2 yrs ago. His choice!!!!!!!

And I think the new players for wicklow this yr will prove to be more useful in the long run.

re: Wicklow Wonder

No, I, as a Carlow fan, would not like to see Leighton Glynn play for Carlow. He's not a Carlow-man and has no connection to the county.

Maybe we just have a different mentality over here - we haven't been corrupted by the soccer mentality Wicklow seem to have.

Wicklow Vs Carlow
Good luck to wicklow next weekend, they look like they have done a bit of work over the winter, moved the ball well at times on sunday. They still look like they are lacking one or two players around the middle where carlow started to dominate in the second half. Is it time for them to get out the chequebook again this winter. A raid on perhaps wexford might secure a couple of proven performers after wexfords good season last year.

Wicklow Vs Dublin
Mailed the Leinster Council yesterday. Dublin vs Wicklow is fixed for 2pm in Parnell Park.

I would start with the same 15 as we did against Carlow, anyone agree or what changes would you make?

Who do yee think is the best player in the county, currently not on the panel?

Wicklow Vs Carlow
Its GAA administration these days everyone and anyone can object and appeal to anything in the GAA. Onion Breath you get very offensive about everything on this site, all i asked was about a transfer deadline! I personally would wish Mr. Walshe and Carlow the best in the future as i think Division Four neighbours should be encouraging and helping each other instead of fighting and arguing and if a player wants to transfer for the correct reasons, as seems to be the case mith Walshe, what harm, I can guarantee you there is not a GAA fan in Carlow who would not realish the thought of Leighton Glynn, twice the player of Walshe, playing for Carlow.

Wicklow Vs Carlow
On what basis could Wicklow object to his transfer Wicklow Wonder? He doesn't live in Wicklow, doesn't work in Wicklow, isn't from Wicklow and hasn't a drop of Wicklow blood in him. The least you could do is wish him well instead of making the ludicrous suggestion that the Wicklow could lodge an objection. As for its timing, the request he can make it at anytime before he plays his first game of the year.

Believer, that's the best written match report I've read in ages. Concise, informative, evocative and upbeat.
If the Dubs thought they were getting warm weather training in La Manga they will be disappointed. It's cold here at the minute.
Anyway, here's hoping for a long and interesting campaign in 2009.

Wicklow Vs Carlow
to the best of my knowledge tom will not be playing for carlow this year and neither will patrick anyway this has gone on long enough it's his own choice who he plays for, as for the match yesterday i felt wicklow looked alot sharper and were much more comfortable on the ball but when you consider the hammering we got last year then yesterday was not to bad and way to early to be passing judgement on either team best for carlow carpenter while furlong impressed for wicklow

Wicklow
How are carlow so bad i saw them playing Wicklow in aughrim last year and they were brutal also where is the idiot who was telling us that neither Mc Walter or Earls would be playing for Wicklow this year . Both played very well yesterday and well done Wicklow.

Wicklow Vs Carlow
just a quick query is it not to late for Walshe to request a transfer back to Carlow. He cannot just turn up at their first League match and play he has to transfer through the proper lines!! i heard he will not be playing for either team instead just taking a year out maybe going to London or playing rugby. This will make a transfer next year less painful and headline grabbing and less likely for county board to lodge appeal after appeal like Carlow did two years ago.

newcastle getting srewed by the county board again
i was up at the game and the newcastle line did themselves no favours by their reaction to the refs decesions..yes in my opinion the ref was brutal in some of the things that he did during the game but hes hardly going to side with a team that are abusing him from the line.newcastle lost the game by only scoring one pont in the second half and i must say baltinglass have been fantastic through out the whole league campaign and are worthy champions....still a good season for the newcastle club...junior hurling championship, junior A football championship runners up and league runners up..a lot of teams would be happy with that.Whats the story with trevor doyle now, rumour has it that he got a years ban from the sidelne,Surely newcastle will be going for a new manager now for next year?Cant see trevor getting the rathnew seniors job either with that ban looking over him

Wicklow Vs Carlow
Believer, that match programme was a joke so I wouldn't read anything into its contents - I didn't know whether that was "our" Thomas Walshe listed at no. 27 as I think it had him down as a Baltinglass clubman. To charge ?2 for such a work of fiction was an outrage; those responsible for such a swindle should be ashamed of themselves - it does nothing for the reputation of the GAA as a grab all association. To put it in context for those who weren't robbed, they copied the Carlow team from the one that played in Aughrim in that meaningless league match last spring. Apart from naming about 10 Carlow starting players who are not part of the current (albeit hastily put together) Carlow panel, the fraudster responsible didn't even make the simplest of token efforts to hide the scam e.g. Paul Bealin was still down as Carlow manager. I accept they probably couldn't get a team from Carlow in time for printing but what did they expect seeing as a panel has only been assembled from new years day. A team sheet could and should have been printed on Sunday morning with accurate up to date team line ups and this should have been handed free of charge to all paying customers on the way in.

To answer your question, yes, considering where Wicklow were when he joined them, Walshe has enjoyed some, relative, success. However, it wouldn't compare favourably with the satisfaction he would have previously experienced from winning Championship games (plural) with his own county - blood being thicker than water and all that. By the way, he will line out for Carlow in 09, so don't be wearing out your keyboard with expressions of pity that he might not play for either county.
