Limerick 6 pointer
I hear Ian Ryan isnt lining out for Limerick U21's v Tipp in Munster Semi tonight ... wonder is he injured?. Wonderful player - if he is , hope its nothing serious.

Limerick without Ian Ryan is essentially a - 5 point handicap to them when coming to Aughrim ... Odds would be stacking in our favour if they were without Ryan .

EastCoast Radio match coverage
Some time ago KCLR in Carlow/Kilkenny used to have a four-hour sports program on a Saturday and Sunday afternoon. It covered every sport both local and international, offered live commentaries to games (with sponsorship), feature interviews, competitions while playing music in between. Not sure if that's still the case but that was a wonderful alternative for a marooned sports fan to turn to where he or she was guaranteed to hear the information they wanted to hear.
That's what we need here in Wicklow!!

Its been a great start anyway, hopefully it continues

Longford game is a potential banana skin.
Can anyone that was at the match tell us how the Wicklow lads played? I believe there was 3 substitutions made did this make a difference on the game? I also heard the wind was bad for Wicklow in the first half...

They'll probably tell you Quiteman that their ABC listenership at 3.00 on anygiven sunday would prefer to listen to Girls Aloud , Lady Ga Ga or whatever other Pop rubbish is on or maybe the latest "celebrity gossip " ( Yawn & puke & puke again :-( ) ...

As the County Radio Station , I feel they have somewhat of an obligation to cover matches - home and away . I think if there is any extra expense in travelling to Longford , Waterford etc , they couldnt be bothered . Surely they can park the bubblegum , Pop culture & celebrity updates for 90 mins on a sunday ? ..

Not everyome can get to games - I know a number of elderly people - Great Gaels in their day , but due to age and health issues who love listening to Michael Sargeant ( when he is on - a rarity during league programme ) . They now rely on texts or Aertel updates..

If its about sponsorship - then I suggest they ( East Coast FM ) wake up their advertising Sales Exec and shake a few tree's .. sounds to me like they dont try too hard ..

I'm very intrested to here what if anything that East Coast have to say on this. With this in mind I have emailed their news department with the link to this discussion and asked them to comment. Lets see if they bother.

What utter tripe! Lots of people cannot for many reasons attend games and rely on local media to keep them informed.

East coast coverage is a disgrace. Apparently they didnt even have updates, never mind comentary, on the latest score etc last Sunday on either the hurling or football games. Coverage of underage scene is virtually non existent compared to other counties. Kildare fm and Carlow Kilkeny gave far greater coverge to local games.

If you bothered going supporting your team like a true supporter you would not have to worry about updates on the radio etc

WicklowJ.East Coast have no interest in Broadcasting matches unless some individual or Company come forward with sponsorship for them to do so, probably somewhere in the region of €2,500 to €3,000 its a business to them.

Can anyone answer the original question, why wouldn't East Coast broadcast the Longford match live, we shouldn't have to depend on Shannonside or Dublin stations for updates.

most stations in dublin will give regular updates but most of the time they show dublin on one of the tv stations weather it be tg4 or senanta sport

Great to get the win in longford, really sets up the limerick game now. I think we can beat them in aughrim, going be very tight though id imagine.

Thanks Square_Ball_15

What Antrim are doing gives us hope that we can be playing in higher divisions and making strides in Leinster in the coming years, there is a great chance of promotion now Clare still have 2 tricky away games, Longford and Waterford and Limerick at home will not be easy either for them. We have the belief and are
winning tight games and I was impressed at the well worked points in second half against Carlow.

Longford game is a potential banana skin.
Not saying for a second Getonwithit that all activity and engagement in fostering and developing the games should be appreciated and applauded . Mustard has a personal crusade on this board against me . I dont like his negativity and I dont see him offering much when it comes to reasonable debate . He is quick to dismiss and insult anything I put up . If I decide to take him on at his own game , he will have to deal with it . I've tried reasonable debate and it doesnt work .

On paper at least - Limerick are the strongest team in Div 4 , they have been No.3 in Munster for a number of years and bearing in mind that Munster have produced No.1 & 2 in the country in recent years - its fair to say that Limerick should be getting out of Div 4

Having said that , they have to come to Aughrim & Wicklow have a tendancy to play better , the better the opposition - especially in Aughrim . I'm sure the bookies will make Limerick slight favourites . A lot will depend on how they re group now after Waterford defeat . If the game were in Limerick , you'd have to fancy Limerick . With the game in Limerick I'd go with either a draw or a 1 or 2 point win for Wicklow. Reading the reports of the game v Longford , with Furlong and Glynn now starting to go through the gears hopefully ( they have been laboured to date ) it is a good omen for us - that along with John McGrath back to fitness.
