The deadline for nominations for the position of Wicklow senior football manager passed last Friday.

The Garden County set up a committee to nominate potential candidates for the position, but so far there has been only one candidate confirmed.

Blessington's John Murphy is a former county minor manager and current Newtown manager and it has been confirmed that he is interested in the position.

The committee has set to discuss the candidates and they will put them through the interview process over the coming weeks.

Other names being linked with the vancancy are former inter-county managers John Evans (Tipperary and Roscommon) and Colin Kelly (Louth) as well as former Dublin footballer Vinny Murphy.
