Former Kilkenny All-Ireland winner John Henderson has stepped down from his role as manager of Bray Emmets.

Henderson was in charge of the side as they claimed an historic three-in-a-row of Wicklow senior titles this year.

Each year, the Emmets seemed to improve and this year's county final replay destruction of Carnew proved just that.

Henderson released a statement on Monday announcing his decision to step down after three glorious years in the role.

"On behalf of Bill Maher, Liam Kenny, Olan Savage and myself, I would like to take this opportunity to let you know that we have decided to step down after completion of our three-year term, in the role," stated Henderson.

"I would like to thank all the people behind the scenes who helped in anyway over the period, to Joe Barnes and Colm McDonagh who were superb kit and logistic men; Cameron McKeever the physio; to the many hurley carriers as well and to Brenda, Anne, Debbie and Francis and others who kept the kitchen going in that period.

"To Pat Lee, Michael O'Byrne and Jackie Napier in their support roles, Anne Healy and Dermot O'Brien and Liam McGaynor and the club management, for all their support roles, Anne Healy and Dermot O'Brien and the club management, for all their support, to the vocal and colourful supporters who followed us everywhere we went, we thank you greatly and I know that we have shared many lifelong memories together.

"Last but not least to all the players for achieving so much to date and who continue to write history every time they take the field, I hope they go on to achieve their full potential, both on and off the pitch.

"I finish off as I started reminding everyone of the words on our famous club banner written and crafted so many years ago, it is as relevant now as it was then: United we stand, divided we fall."
