Newtown club notes

December 05, 2016

The community centre was full to capacity recently for our juvenile presentation; all our U8s, U10s and U12s received medals as did our hurlers. Individual award winners on the day were; most dedicated U12 girl Alisha McMahon; U12 boy Mathew Cooley; U14 girl Tia McMahon; U16 girl Ava McGlynn and U16 boy Ryan Murphy. Player of the year awards were presented to U12 girl Alyssia Larkin; U12 boy Charlie Sullivan; U14 girl Cora Heffernan; U16 girl Rachel Carthy and U16 boy Cian Walsh. Joe McDonald was presented with his Celtic cup all Ireland medal and also presented our hurlers with their medals.

Our hard working juvenile secretary Tom Doyle received the club person of the year award which he richly deserved and Luke Power was handed an envelope the contents of which are unknown from the nursery crew in appreciation of his time and effort. Well done to the juvenile committee for a well-run event and thanks to all who helped out on the day especially Mario's takeaway who delivered hot food and fed over 150 children. Thanks also to Niamh Collins and Molly lamb who helped out presenting medals on the day. Last but most definitely not least heartfelt thanks also goes to our ever dedicated and hardworking juvenile chairman Shay Power and the extended juvenile committee for all their hard work throughout the season.

Officers elected at last week's juvenile AGM were, chairman Shay Power, vice chair Noel Doyle, Secretary Tom Doyle, vice secretary Shayne Murphy and child protection officer David McCormick, a strong committee who will do what's right and best for the juveniles over the coming season. Best of luck to all for coming season.
