Seniors -  Blessington 0:11 - Rathnew 0:9. Blesington played the final league game in Blessington on Sat 15 Oct. Rathnew led by two points at the break and a strong second half along with a 4 point haul for substitute  Eddie Boylan, brought Blessington home by 2 points. Both teams could again meet in the Dunne Cup playoffs in the coming weeks.  The squad on the day: S.Kitt, D.Fennessy, M.McLoughlin, J.Gilligan, K.Hanlon, C.McGorman, C. Ladies

Senior Ladies - New adventures begin again for our Senior Ladies as Steven Bohan and Kevin Hanlon step down as our management team of the last two & a half years. They have been a fantastic asset to us coming in when the odds were against us with numbers, commitment and competition within Wicklow and further. There is no doubt they have set the stepping stones in place for us to keep up their great standard of work - the coaching was top notch and built an amazing team spirit back into the girls.

 

Minors - Training Thursday 7:30m to 9pm. Girls played away to Bray on Fri 14 Oct in the 1st round of the championship and the game was effectively over at half time but the girls turned it around in the 2nd half but the there was too much to do.

 

G4M &O - Training Wed 6.45 to 8pm. The ladies had a great day in Portmmarnock Sat 15 Oct at the All Ireland Blitz. They came up against Erins Isle (Dublin), Inch (Cork), Finuge St Senans (Kerry), St Colmcille's (Meath) and Mount Leinster Rangers (Carlow). While scores aren't kept in the games the ladies came out on top in all 5 games and celebrated accordingly. Really fantastic day with Blessington the only team to represent Wicklow and proudly so. U9's - Girls U9's played away v Milltown in KL match on Sat 15 Oct. Very tough and close game but Blesso came out the better side on a result of 4-5 to 2-4.

U7's - Girls U7's, played their first game on Sat 15 Oct in KL away v Milltown. Won well.

Juvenile

U11& 12 Boys - The U11's had another busy week drawing with Confey at home on Mon 11 Oct in a very competitive game. The lads lost to a very strong Carbury team at home on Sat 15 Oct. This was their first loss of the Autumn NKL. No training this week. U12 boys away v Clane on Tues. Time TBC. U12 NKL final on Sat 22 Oct. Opposition and time TBC.

U10's - U10's will travel to An Tochar for a challenge game on Fri 21 Oct at 7pm.

U8's - U'8s finished off their NKL campaign with another top class performance with a big win away to Raheens on Sat 15 Oct. Super performance's by all but special mention for Oisin Kelly who finished with a 3-2. All these little warriors have a very bright future ahead of them.

U7's - U7's were out on Sat 15 Oct vs Ardclough.

U7 NKL - Great win by our U7's on 15 Oct at home to Ardclough. The team started well but then fell behind. However,
they rallied superbly and didn't concede a score in the final two quarters for a narrow but well deserved win. Final score 6 to 5. Great performance by all. What a super little bunch.

Academy - The Blessington GAA Academy will finish up for this season on Sat 22 Oct. All children from the Astro, U6's, U7's & U8 (Boys & Girls) are invited on the day to join in the fun and games which all the coaches have organised. We will also have some goodies on the day for all the children. The coaches would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents for bringing the children to training and to matches every week as well as to those parents who joined in each week. Training for all academy ages will re-commence on Mar 4 2017.

Wicklow U16's - A good start in the Fr. Manning Cup for the Wicklow U16's when they defeated Wexford 5-16 to 2-8 in Ferns on Sat 15 Oct. Our lads Conall Gallagher(8), Eoin Higgins(7) and Ethan Cotter(13) were big contributors on the day. Next up is Laois in Ballinakill next Sat 22 Oct. The lads expect a bigger challenge but this performance gave cause for optimism.

Hurling

U16's - Congrats to Michael Dwyers who won the U16B hurling championship today. Final Score Michael Dwyers 2-14 Luke O Tooles 2-08. Well done to the Blessington GAA lads on the team - Eoin Higgins, David Williamson, David Phibbs, Kevin Quinn and Oisin Brogan.

U14's - Unfortunately the U14 hurling Final Michael Dwyers v Luke O'Tooles was called off on Sat 15 Oct due to the rain that fell on Fri night. Match is fixed for next Sat 22 Oct 1pm. Good luck to Blessington GAA lads on the team - Oisin Brogan, Jon Kehoe and Liam Phibbs.

Lotto - Lotto - No winner of the Lotto Jackpot on 4 Oct. Next draw 18 Oct in the West Wicklow House. Jackpot €5000. Tickets are available in shops and pubs around the town. Blessington Youth Project - Phase 2 Launch on Thurs 20 Oct in the Coimín Centre 8pm. Topic: Keeping our Teenagers Happy & Healthy. Speakers to include Colin Regan, GAA Community & Health Manager. All very welcome to attend.

Avon Ri - In support of our good friends at Avon Ri Blessington Blessington GAA will be purchasing a table for 10 people for the Masquerade Ball in aid of Barretstown on Sat 29 Oct. Blessington GAA will raffle off 5 sets of 2 tickets among the registered members of the club on Tues 18 Oct. If anyone else is interested in attending the Masquerade Ball please contact 045 900670.

Race day - Our annual race day in Punchestown has grown in popularity over the years. This year it will be held on Sun 20 Nov in conjunction with our mega prize draw. More info next week.

BLESSINGTON  GAA  CLOTHES  COLLECTION - FINAL WEEK. We accept - All clean unwanted clothes, Bedlinen, Towels and Textiles including Shoes, Bags, Belts and Soft Toys but please keep separate from Clothes and Textiles.
