Arklow Geraldine Ballymoney's GAA club notes

September 26, 2016

AGBs Intermediate Men's Team have secured their place in the Intermediate Final against Ballinacor, after beating Kilmacanogue on Sunday in the Semi-final, played in Aughrim.  A well planned team came out ready and strong to face a mighty Kilmacanogue team, both raring to get their place in the final. AGBs men stuck together with some well played ball and skills through the difficult pitch conditions.  Although the wind was in Kilmacanogue's favour, AGB never relented and went into the half time break 2-02 to 0-04, with points scored by Cormac O Shea, Cathal Kelleher, and goals from Cormac O Shea and Ross Hynes. The second half began with a red card for AGB, which the team did not allow falter their performance, they pushed on unabated and Kilmacanogue failed to break them down. Their determination and strength continued and a goal from Cormac O Shea, and points from Chris O Brien, Stephen Hurley and Cormac O Shea brought the full time score to AGB 3-05 to 0-07.  The Intermediate Final date will be confirmed.

AGBs U16 girls played St. Pats on Friday evening in Rathnew in the Championship Final.  Unfortunately for our girls the wind was in St. Pats favour and St. Pats were able to put up a good score in the first half.  The second half saw a determined young AGB team return eager to catch up.  The AGB girls never gave up and outscored their opponents in the second half, but it wasn't enough to break the half time lead.  Although it wasn't to be the girls night, they did extremely well to reach the finals.  Their management, supporters and all of AGB are extremely proud of their achievements this year.
