On Saturday our Senior Hurlers were out in the refixed Dacia Senior Hurling Championship Quarter Final. They beat Avondale in Aughrim scoring a strong 1-18 to Avondale's 2-09. We now take on reigning Champions Bray Emmets in the Championship semi-final. Well done lads!
Hard luck to our senior ladies who had a tough match last Tuesday away to Bray Emmets in Bray in the B Championship semi-final but unfortunately came up short by the narrowest of margins.
Hard luck to our under 14 girls who lost by four points to Clan Na Gael in their Girls Div.3 Championship Final at Newcastle GAA grounds last Monday evening St. Patricks 1-06 Clan Na Gael 2-07. It was an heroic performance by all the girls which also included seven under 12 girls on the panel, five of whom were on the starting fifteen. We lead 1-4 to 1-2 at half time and continued to lead by two points as the clock hit the 48thminute. However, the Kilmac/Enniskerry girls piled on some severe pressure in the last ten minutes which saw them go ahead and even though our girls tried in vain, right to the final whistle we were unable to get any decisive scores. Congratulations to Clan Na Gael and their manager Mark King, this their very first girls championship, only two years in existence. Well done to our girls who certainly made them earn it. Had we taken more chances in the first half, that were presented maybe the result would have been different. On the evening team captain Eva Phelan was superb, her sister Julie at full back wasn't far behind. Heather McInerney, Nadia Lassarri & Grace Montgomery were excellent in the half back line. Others to really shine were Sarah Carroll, Holly McSorley, Molly Sweeney, Leanne O'Neill, Layla Hitchen and Keela Dunne. Aine Kavanagh in goal, Laura Newsome, Eve Cowdrey & Katie Shea all made noble contributions to the game. Kayleigh Keogh, Kate Connolly, Aoife Caffrey, Emer Kennedy came on as replacements and their efforts did not go un-noticed. Once again well done girls, you were fantastic and you lost nothing in defeat. Team : Aine Kavanagh, Sarah Carroll ,Julie Phelan, Laura Newsome, Grace Montgomery, Heather McInerney, Nadia Lassarri, Eva Phelan, Eve Cowdrey, Molly Sweeney, Holly McSorley, Layla Hitchen, Leanne O'Neill, Keela Dunne, Katie Shea Subs : Emer Kennedy for L. Newsome Kate Connolly for K. Shea, Aoife Caffrey for Eve Cowdrey & Kayleigh Keogh for Molly Sweeney.
Hard luck to our U14 Footballers who came up against a very strong St Nicholas side in round 3 of the A Championship.
Well done to our U12 Boys who travelled to Dunlavin on Saturday to take part in a Mini Festival Final against Donard/Glen. In an entertaining encounter the home side persevered by one point.
