St Patricks club notes

August 22, 2016

Commiserations to the Wicklow Ladies who lost to Tipperary in the All Ireland Intermediate Quarter Final on Saturday. In what were awful wet conditions it made it tough for both teams to play with the game postponed 40 minutes. The girls had a great Championship beating Roscommon and Down in the earlier stages but unfortunately it wasn't to be this year. Well done to our own Senior Ladies who are part of the panel and also Mick Kavanagh who is part of the Management Team.

On Saturday our Junior Hurlers were up against Kiltegan in the Junior A Hurling Championship Final in Arklow. At half time the Pat's Men were ahead by two John O'Brien goals, 2-05 to 0-05. In the second half with the wind, Kiltegan made it tough getting the equalizer in the dying seconds of the game. Both teams were all square when the final whistle blew: St. Patrick's 2-09 Kiltegan 0-15.

Our U10 Boys team travelled to Celbridge GAA on Saturday to take part in the All Ireland U10 Football Blitz. Winning 2 out of their 3 group games they made it to the Quarter Final where they faced Miltown Malbay from Clare. Well done to coaches Stephen Farrell and Paul O'Brien and all the players that took part!

Our junior Footballers travelled to Knockananna on Friday evening to compete against the home side in the Division 3 league. Knockananna prevailed on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-05. St Pats scorers: Ciaran McGettigan (1-01), Jordan Pettigrew (0-03) and Conor O'Brien and Eoin McAulay (0-01 each). Thank you to Knockananna for the hospitality after the game, very much appreciated.

Our Junior Ladies take on AGB in the Junior Shield Final this Sunday 28th August in Aughrim at 2pm. It's a great achievement for the team who narrowly missed out on an 'A' Semi-Final. We hope to see everyone there supporting the girls!
