Seniors - Our Seniors are out in the Campus Oil Div 1 football league v Dunlavin on Tues 16 Aug at 7.30pm.

 

Junior B - Our Junior B team faced Valleymount in the Campus Oil Div 4 West Football league away v Valleymount and had a great win on a scoreline of 1-19 to 1-06.

 

Minors - Our minors were out against St Pats away in the minor championship on Wed 10 Aug and had a great win 4-12 to 3-09. Team: Adrian Ciecko, Wayne Miley, Sean McGarr, Kian Nolan, Dara McGorman. Aaron Curran, Glen Farrell, Adam Boland (2-1), Danielius Sarkauskas, Fergal Hennessy, Stephen Carroll (1-4), Jack Cotter (0-3), Sean Mescall, Jordan McGarr (1-2), Ciaran Mescall (0-2).  Subs - Dara Richardson, Ethan Cotter, Ruairi Finan, Eoin Kavanagh.

Physio - The club physio will be in the clubhouse on Wednesday 17 Aug at 7pm. Players training on the night will be given priority.

 

Ladies

Senior Ladies - Ladies are away v Garda on Mon 15 Aug 7.30pm.

G4M &O - Training on Wednesday as usual at 6.45 to 8 pm.  The Ladies are playing a blitz on Sat 20 Aug in St Peregrine GAA club Blanchardstown at 10am. Junior Ladies - Training Tues and/or Thurs7 to 8:30 with U16's depending on U16 championship fixture.  Next Game Thurs 25 Aug 7:30pm away to Barndarrig.

U14's - Well done to the girls on their win v Newtown on Sat 13 Aug. Final score 12-11 to 4-05.  Get well wishes to Sorcha Nolan who was injured and has to hang up the boots for a while.

 

U12's - The girls are at home v AGB on Tues 16 Aug 7.30pm.

 

Juvenile

Leinster U10 Blitz - Blessington GAA will host a Leinster blitz on Sun 28 Aug with teams travelling from Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare. More details to follow next week.

 

Annual Mini All Ireland Tournament will take place again in September. Sun 11 Sep (morning) Group Games, Wed 14 Sep (evening) Semi Finals and Fri 16 Sep (evening) finals. €10 entry per child which includes a t-shirt (of the county team they represent) and medal for all. Open to all registered Boys and Girls in U8, U10 and U12. Managers will have registration forms over the coming weeks at training. Booking details can also be sent to Jess Brennan 086 8602822.

 

U12's - Training Mon and Wed 6.30pm to 8pm

U14's - Next up is Blessington v Bray Emmets at home 15 Aug at 7.15pm.

U16's - Our U16's commences their championship away v Newtown on Thurs 18 Aug at 7.15pm. Blessington are in Group A with Newtown, Bray and Avondale. The team had a very good training session with Alan Brogan and some of our senior players on Sun 14 Aug. Many thanks to Patrick Magee and all who helped out on the day. You know who you are!!! We had little helpers also with Sadhbh, Mikey and Harry.  

Hurling 

Well done to Austin Brennan who lined out at centre forward for the Tipperary Cumann Na mBunscol team today at half time in Croke Park. They took on a Galway outfit as part of the entertainment at the break in the All Ireland hurling semi final. Austin scored 1 pt from play and did his club's, both Blessington and Western Gaels proud. Congratulations Austin and well done. Your school club and county are very proud of you.

 

U8 - Our U8's hurlers travelled to Bray Emmetts on Fri night along with St Pat's. We played three matches with a draw in first and narrowly beaten in the others. All our lads gave 100% right up to the end. Kayden McMahon pulled off some fantastic saves in goal whilst the only girl playing for any of the teams was Ciara Whelan who played fantastic winning Girl of the Match in all three games.Training Thurs next at 6.30pm.

 

U14 -  Championship Michael Dwyers v Carnew at 7.15pm.

Club Notes  - Congrats to the O'Donovan brothers who won Silver in Rio. This is even more special as they are nephews of club member Mary Carroll. Well done lads.

Cardiac Screening - The club would like to facilitate this very important service and would encourage all in the community (not just club members) to avail of this service. No date has been set yet. AMS provide a comprehensive, on-site Doctor-led Cardiac Screening which is ultimately aimed at reducing the incidents of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) in Ireland. Screening can be carried out on anyone 12+ and costs €65 and takes about 20 mins. If you have Laya Healthcare it is free for anyone else with other healthcare plans you may be able to claim back 50% at the end of the year. Further details over the next coming weeks.  time and place that is convenient.

We would welcome the opportunity to run a screening programme for your players, members and wider community. We screen individuals from age 12+. It will not cost the club anything as individuals pay for themselves. Each screening takes 20 minutes and we can screen 45 per day. We will provide online booking, posters and brochures along with Email support and an 1890 helpline for any questions people may have.

All we ask of the club is to facilitate & help promote the service. It is then up to each individual member if they want to take up the service.

The fee for the Cardiac Screening service is €65 per person. People with Laya Healthcare can avail of the service for free. People with other health insurance may be able to claim back approx. 50% at the end of the year.
