Men's Hurling:
Our men's hurling team played Kilmacanogue/Enniskerry in a challenge match on Wednesday 10th in preparation for their upcoming Junior C championship clash against Shillelagh on Saturday 20th.
A tight affair saw both teams trading points in the 1st half with neither side being able to pull away. The Fergal Ógs tally was kept ticking over by Sean Maloney, Paddy O'Brien and Daniel Kennedy who all found the uprights on numerous occasions. Kilmac/Ennis managed to find the back of the net to nudge themselves into the lead, before Fergal Ógs quickly responded with a superb strike from Paddy O'Brien to reel them back in.
A spell of Kilmac/Ennis dominance towards the end of the 1st half saw the home side regain the lead when they found another 2 points from play. Further scoring chances were denied by some superb defending from Alan Hughes, Frankie Cowan and Gary Fitzpatrick, while Gary O'Neill sent a free over the bar down the opposite end to bring the Fergal Ógs deficit to 1 point before halftime.
The halftime score was 1-7 to 1-6 in favour of Kilmac/Ennis.
Kilmac/Ennis came out stronger in the 2nd half and didn't wait long before finding the uprights again. A string of 4 points from Kilmac/Ennis saw Fergal Ógs fight back to claim 2 points in the opposing half.
From there, the game started to become a stalemate, with the two sides battling it out in the middle with numerous wides being attributed to both sides as the game entered its latter stages. Fergal Ógs tried earnestly to close the gap in the scoreline but a few stray passes in the Kilmac/Ennis half, and some last ditch defending from the home side kept the Bray side from finding the much needed scores.
As the game entered its final minutes, it was Kilmac/Ennis who decided the outcome, when they played a long ball down the wing to their corner forward, who scrapped for it, won it, and struck it into the bottom corner of the goal.
The goal took the wind out of the Fergal Ógs sails, with not enough time left on the clock to repair the damage that was done.
By full-time, the score was Kilmacanogue/Enniskerry 2-12 Fergal Ógs 1-9.

Men's Football:
After their win against Coolkenno last week, our men's footballers were back in action again on Sunday 14th, when they travelled to Valleymount to play Stratford/Grangcon in the 3rd round of their Junior C championship campaign.
From the 1st whistle, Fergal Ógs made the better start, launching early attacks through the Stratford half. Two wides were struck before the Bray men opened their scoring account courtesy of a Ronan Twohig point from play. Fergal Ógs were dominant in possession, with Stratford struggling to get their hands on the ball in the Fergal Ógs half. With Fergal Ógs making further inroads past the oppositions 45' line, the floodgates soon began to open with Ronan Twohig chipping in with another point before Gavin Harris found his first scores of the game, finding the uprights, both from play and from frees.
With 20 minutes on the clock, Fergal Ógs found themselves ahead by 6 points, with Stratford/Grangecon yet to register a score. Colin Gormley, Robert Wasson and Chris Carroll at the back, rose to the occasion when called upon, not offering many chances, while Paddy Mullen, Stephen Jenkins and Ronan Twohig pushed forward, looking to set up further scores.
At the tail end of the 1st half, both sides traded wides before David Dixon at full forward got on the end of a long ball into the box and punched it over the bar for his 1st point. Gavin Harris followed up moments later, placing another free over the bar, to send Fergal Ógs in at halftime, leading by 8 points with a score of 0-8 to 0-0.
In the early stages of the 2nd half, Gavin Harris scored his final point of the game from another free, before Stratford/Grangecon eventually found their first point to make a 0-9 to 0-1 game.
Following their first score, Stratford/Grangecon grew in confidence and started to pose more of a threat in the Fergal Ógs half. A 2nd point soon followed, before a crucial goal scoring opportunity, which could have brought them back into the game, was saved by John Costello, maintaining the Fergal Ógs 7 point lead.
Following Stratford/Grangecons purple patch, Mark Doyle and Paul O'Brien began to regain control of the game in midfield, winning ball, and distributing it into the forwards. When they found themselves in space, they took on scoring duties themselves, with both men finding a point each from play with little time left in the tie, to put the end result beyond doubt.
Stratford/Grangecon dug deep and managed to score one more point before the final whistle was heard.
The fulltime score was Fergal Ógs 0-11 Stratford/Grangecon 0-3.
