Arklow Geraldine Ballymoney's GAA club notes

July 25, 2016

AGB Senior Ladies played Blessington on Monday evening, and during the match an AGB  player was injured in a collision with a Blessington player which saw the match abandoned. The AGB player recovered well. Thanks to all who travelled. Thanks also to the Baltinglass mentors and physio for their help on the night. It is deeply appreciated.

AGB Junior Ladies had a convincing win against Newtown in the Junior Championship on Wednesday evening.  The game was played in Pearses' Park in very warm conditions. Newtown were very short on numbers having only the bare fifteen and AGB were able to use their numerical advantage to great effect as the hard working Newtown girls tired. Final score was 8-14 to 2-6.

AGBs U12 Girls travelled to Kilanerin on Thursday for a friendly challenge game.  The girls put in a tremendous effort in their game and played with excellent football on display.

AGB U12 Boys Group 5 travelled to Ballinacor on Monday night and following another gritty and determined display the scoreboard reading at the end is somewhat deceiving as the boys had to really work hard to carve out the result on the night, on what proved to be a tough but fair encounter. The game got off to a quick start and AGB settled down to the task at hand from the off and with some good team play and speed and skill, the boys managed to secure a margin of 4 points in the first half. However, having re-grouped at half time, AGB embarked on a number of attacks and yielded some good scores ,however Ballinacor continued to apply pressure on the boys all over the field, and with a few positional switches, AGB started to get the upper hand and played some excellent football in the closing 10-15 minutes and got some excellent scores to run out worthy winners on a score line of 6-08 to 3-05,

AGBs Junior B team were away to Newtown on Thursday evening, and the match  finished with a win for Newtown.  Final score was 3-15 to  1-11.

AGB U8 and U10 boys travelled to Baltinglass on Saturday morning for a Blitz.   Both teams were well represented and played great football in their matches, an enjoyable morning was had by all.

AGBs Senior Men travelled to Aughrim on Saturday evening for their second championship match, which saw them take on Carnew.  Following a lot of hard work and regrouping on the training pitch prior to the match a solid team performance was on show.  The blend of youth and experience in the team pulled AGB through a tough match and all their hard work was paid off with a victory and the Championship campaign is now back on track.  Final score was AGB 2-10 to Carnew 1-07.

The next County Development Draw will take place next Saturday 30th of July at the County Grounds in Aughrim,  all are welcome to attend.  There were no winners from AGB in the second draw.
