Wicklow manager Martin Storey believes his side is coming into form at the right time as they begin their Christy Ring Cup campaign against Meath in Trim on Saturday.

The Garden County have not had the best of luck against the Royals in recent meetings, but a decent finish to the NHL 2B campaign has boosted confidence in the squad.

And Storey told the Wicklow People that the squad have given their all in preparing for tomorrow's important clash.

"I couldn't ask for anymore," said Storey. "I couldn't ask for better commitment. The lads just do what we ask and that's all we can ask for. We'll know on Saturday whether we're going the way we want it to go or whether it's not going the way we want it to go.

"They gave us a good beating in the league in the first match so that's an incentive to get back and turn that over and I think we have improved a lot since then.

"But, I mean, the benchmark will be Saturday when we play them in the championship on Saturday and we'll know is that movement maintained or have Meath showed the same improvement."
