Seniors - The seniors  had another good win on Sat 17 Apr away to Coolkenno in the league. The final result was 2-9 to 0-6. The first half was a low scoring affair with Blessington leading 0-4 to 0-1 at half time. The second half was tight until goals by Curtis Geraghty and Conor Ryan put Blessington in the driving seat. The next game is Rathnew away on Tue 26 Apr. The team was S.Kitt,  B.Murphy,  M. McLoughlin, J. Gilligan, S.Bohan, C. O'Gorman,  K. Hanlon,  E. Keogh (0:1). D. Boothman, T. Donohoe, B. Intermediates - The Intermediate team travelled to Roundwood and lost to An Tochar 1-7 to 1-10. The team put up a strong performance and almost snatched a draw. B. Behan. B. Foster, J. Gilligan, J. Junior B  - Lost at home v Donard on Thurs 14 0-12 to 0-8. Next up is away to Kiltegan on Thurs 21 Apr at 7.15pm.

 

Minors - Sat 16 away v St Nicholas finally got out minor campaign underway with a win 3-7 to 1-7. Scorers - S. Carroll (1-4), J. McGarr (1-1), H. Higgins (1-0) and F. Hennessy (0-2).

 

Wicklow Minors - Hard luck to Jack, Aaron and Adam on the disappointing result against Kildare in the first round of the Leinster championship in Aughrim on Sat 16 Apr. Unfortunately, this attack-orientated side struggled to convert  from their many forays into the Kildare half and were caught on the counter several times by a unit of talented Kildare forwards, giving the Leinster champions their deserved victory. Final score 0-7 to 2-16. The spirit in this camp is strong and they will give everything when they face the winners of Longford and Offaly in three weeks time.

 

Physio - The club physio will be in the clubhouse on Tues at 7pm. Players training on the night will be given priority.

 

Ladies

Senior Ladies

The senior ladies will be away v Croi ro Naofa at 7pm on Wed 20 Apr.  

 

G4M &O - Training every Wednesday 6:45to 8pm Main Pitch. A big welcome to Laura Noonan and Linda Carroll who have recently joined. Registration fees due for everybody, I would like to get all fees due for everybody completed by the end of March. Junior Ladies - The Juniors will train with the Senior Ladies on Mon 7:30pm to 9pm and on Thurs train with U16/Minor team on 7pm to 8pm. Played at home V Tinahely on Sun 17 and lost 1-05 to 4-09. While it was close for most of the game the girls were a player down due to injury for most of the 2nd half  and Tinahely were able to take advantage of the extra player scoring 1-3 close to the end of the game.  We need to try and get 1 or 2 more players from U16's out to games to be able to substitute injured players and tired legs. Next Game Round 5  At home Blessington 2 V Newtown Sat 7 May. All games 2.30pm. TBC.

 

U14's - U14 girls beaten in Feile qualifiers by St Pat's by a goal and Tinahely by 4 pts but two excellent performances against Div 1 teams.

 

Juvenile

U10's - We were in Kiltegan on Sat 16 Apr in Round 2 of the Wicklow Go Games. Kiltegan were short a few players to field two teams so we gave them a lend of some of our players to ensure everyone got to play which is what it's all about at this age. All the games were  entertaining with some great skills on display from both teams. Thanks to Kiltegan for a warm welcome and well organised games. 

 

NKL - Later on Sat 16 Apr our U10's played away to Maynooth. We found it difficult to keep up with the pace and physicality of the game and despite some good individual performances we were second best on the day. A big thanks to Ronan Smyth from the U9's who stepped in at last minute as we were short and played very well.

U11/U12 - Training on Mon evening 6.30pm to 8pm for those not playing hurling and Wed. 6.30pm to 8pm.

Next up - U11 - NKL: 23 Apr away v Caragh 1 4:30pm. U12 NKL: 27 Apr (Wed 7pm) away v Kilcock. U11 &12: Wicklow League: 25 Apr home v St Pats 7:30pm.

 

Hurling 

U8/U10 - U10 hurlers played Moorefield on Sun 17 Apr in a challenge game. Blessington played their best hurling so far this year but in the end Moorefield won out by two points in a close game. U8 and 10 training on Thurs night 6.30pm - 7.30pm. U8/U10 Go Games in Stratford Fri 22 Apr at 7pm.
