Well a new page was written in Rathnew GAA History when our Intermediate side captured the Inter Championship for the very first time . Rathnew have not contested the Intermediate grade much as we have held Senior grade since 1886. No other Club in the County shares that honour with us. So our chances of an Inter title have been very , very slim. Congratulations to the Management team of Darren Ronan and Nigel Manley , Captain Dean Franey and to the entire squad on your achievement.Bonfires were blazing as the lads were welcomed back to The Village on Saturday evening. Celebrations went long into the night. We hope to see this success whet the appetite for some of the players who are capable of playing at any level!Hard luck to Ballymanus who were sporting enough to join the Rathnew lads on Sunday for a beverage or two.

All roads lead back to Aughrim next Sunday as our Seniors travel to defend their Championship crown against St Pats. The Wicklow side gave our lads a lesson earlier on in the campaign. But that was only one battle and the 'war' was not over. The back door gave our lads a chance to redeem themselves. There has been no looking back since then as Rathnew have improved on every outing. The team have the hunger back , the want, the desire to keep the 'Miley Cup' in The Village. St Pats would have rather seen Rathnew gone out of the Championship by now, but our boys are looking forward to reacquainting themselves with our neighbours. Best of luck to the Management team of Declan Byrne, Alvin Mitchell and Nigel Manley, Captain Nicky Mernagh and the entire squad.

Big thanks to everyone who helped out dressing the Village in bunting and flags.

Best of luck to our  U 14 Ladies in their County Final next Saturday in Ballinakill at 1 pm. Great achievement coming so far in such a short time.
