St Patricks GAA club notes

October 05, 2015

Last Sunday was a busy day for the club with three of our teams playing in three County Finals. The U12 and U16B girls teams were away in Ballinakill both facing Blessington, and the Junior A Hurlers were in Aughrim where they took on Kilcoole. The U16 girls managed a great win securing another County Championship, congratulations to all the players and management. Unfortunately both the U12s and our Junior Hurlers were beat on the day, our Junior Hurlers lost by four points to Kilcoole. They did themselves and the club proud by reaching a County Final and will definitely be up there again. We would like to thank the players and management for all their hard work and commitment throughout the season.

Well done to the Minor Football team on winning their Minor B championship Quarter Final game with a good victory over An Tochar in Ballinakill last Friday evening, 4-17 to 1-03. A good opening 20 mins saw us playing fantastic football registering some excellent scores, which gave us a half time lead of 3-9 to 1-2. The second half saw us dominate proceedings adding another 1-8 onto our half time tally.

As County Final day approaches it's time to decorate the town. The best-dressed house will win a €100 voucher for the club shop. Judges will be the Executive Committee, with the winner announced on 11th October. Send your photos into the club's Facebook page and they will be uploaded. Get decorating! There will be free face painting in the clubhouse between 11 am - 12 noon on Sunday morning. Thanks again to Caroline Cullen and Michaela Kennedy for organising this for the club supporters.  Please show your support this Sunday in Aughrim when St. Pat's Senior Football team will take on Rathnew in the County final, throw in at 2:30pm. We hope to see as many of you there as possible!

The U10 boys had their presentation this week celebrating a very successful and fun year. The U8 hurlers were out training again this week up in Dunbur. The Hurler of the Week went to a well-deserved Jake Keating, well done Jake!

We would also like to say thanks to Wicklow Print Solutions who came on board as one of the sponsors of the Men's Senior Football team.

On Saturday there was a super crowd at the Hurling Jubilee night in the clubhouse where the 1990 Senior County Hurling Champions were presented with their ties. They were also honored in Aughrim on Sunday.

There was no winner of this week's Club Lotto draw of €5,250. Numbers drawn were 9, 19, 20 and 22. The bonus number was 14. Two people managed to draw three numbers sharing the €250 prize; Ann McHugh and Emily Switon.
