Hurling appointment no closer

September 25, 2015

The appointment of a Wicklow senior hurling manager looks set to drag on for another while.

Casey O'Brien stepped down from the position after the Christy Ring Cup concluded during the summer, but the county are still some way off appointing a replacement.

There have been a good few names linked to the role including Ex-Wicklow hurler Michael Neary, Wexford All-Ireland winner Martin Storey, Wexford under-21 manager JJ Doyle, Carlow's Johnny Nevin and Dublin native John Tracey.

Interviews are believed to have taken place in recent weeks, but the committee selected to find O'Brien's successor are keeping their cards close to their chest for the time being.

Following the success of the under-21s, there is a good buzz around the county, but a new manager would love to see a few club games before next year, however, the SHC is now down to the final.
