Big well done to our Intermediate side who toppled Senior League side Dunlavin to reach the Inter Final which takes place in 2 weeks Oct 4th. Manager Darren Ronan and selector Nigel Manley have been busy piecing this team together all year.Call up's to the Senior and injuries have taken there toll on the squad. But there is enough experience , old heads, young talent and Rathnew spirit to make this a formidable side.Promotion through the League has been achieved so reaching the Final has been the icing on the cake. Rathnew GAA Club wishes Dylan Franey a speedy and full recovery. Dylan injured he's wrist in the 1/4 Final v's Carnew and required surgery , best wishes Dylan.
Saturday also saw victory for our U12 boy's teams in Ballinakill. Manager Stephen Mitchell with Jason Devlin and Leonard Doyle were rightly proud to see Captains Charlie Cruise and Tran Tang Quin lift the Cup. Rathnew saw off A.G.B. and have seen their hard work all year rewarded. This is a big squad of young talent and hopefully they continue to play football all the way up to Senior Level.
Friday night we had the Annual Charlie Melia Awards. It was a great evening with over 120 kids partaking in games. Everyone who took part from our Nursery and Saturday Coaching received new Rathnew rain jackets and medals. Our U12 Ladies received new tops. It was an excellent spectacle underneath the new lights. There was a BBQ with refreshments and cakes. Rathnew GAA would like to thank the Melia family especially Catherine Melia and Mairéad Melia Keighery who were there to present the awards.Thanks to all who helped make the night possible too many to mention.
Birthday wishes to Craig 'All Star DJ' Butler who celebrated he's 30th with family and friends in The Rathnew House last weekend.
