Senior

On Saturday evening our Senior Football panel came up against Kiltegan in the SFC Quarter Final.  Games against Kiltegan are always tough battles, we have come out on the wrong side of them in previous years and knew that this game was going to be very difficult.  A slow start by our lads was helped by a couple of frees scored by Brian Coen and Stephen Duffy, the half time score was 0-5 to 0-4 in our favour.  We started the second half stronger and scored a couple of points in a row to extend our lead.  The defence held strong and limited Kiltegan to 0-1 from play in the second half, with the forwards keeping the scoreboard moving.  The final score was 0-11 to 0-6 in our favour and the panel are back in a Co Semi Final with loads to improve on for the next day.  Scorers on the day were Dean Healy 0-1, Padge McWalter 0-1, Stephen Duffy 0-2, Tommy Kelly 0-1, Daragh O'Sullivan 0-2, Eamonn Woulfe 0-2, Brian Coen 0-1 and Paul Earls 0-1. Thanks to Michaela Kennedy and Caroline Cullen for the face painting in the clubhouse before the game, the kids really enjoyed it. St. Pat's will play Annacurra in the County semi final on Sunday 13th September, time to be confirmed.

The Junior A's were in action on Sunday against Laragh in the Championship. The St. Pat's team lined out as; Simon Alexander, Wayne Farrell, Lorcan Smullen, Colin Roche, Aidan Dunne, Chris Kavanagh (Capt), Ciaran McGettigan (0-02), Joe Quinn, Bill McHugh, Terry Healy, Sean Duffy (0-01), Jordan Pettigrew, Johnny Carton (0-02), Sean O'Brien (0-01), Conor O'Brian (0-08 4F). Subs: Hugh Humby (Colin Roche), Gary Duffy (Jordan Pettigrew), Colin O'Toole (Johnny Carton). unused: Jack Dunne, Ross O'Toole, Colin Smullen. Conor O'Brien had an excellent contribution with 8 points with 4 from frees. In the second half Ciaran McGettigan, Gary Duffy, Hugh Humby, Terry Healy and Sean Duffy supported by a strong team performance turned the half time deficit of two points to be worthy winners by five. The final score was 0-16 to 1-08. Next up we play Bray Emmets in the Quarter Final.

JUVENILE

Congratulations to our U14 Ladies teams who were playing in their respective championships during the week. On Thursday evening AGB were the visitors to Dunbur against our U14b team. The last time these two teams met in the Div3 league the game ended in a draw and the first 10 mins was no different, that was until Elle Merrigan pounced on a loose ball to score the games first goal. The Arklow girls got their first point just before Holly McSorley scored a second goal from a 20 metre free. Midfielder Luci Hobbs scored St. Pat's third just before the visitors chipped over a point and were unfortunate not to score a goal of their own, only to be ruled out for a square ball. Keela Dunne landed two great points to leave St. Pat's ahead at h/t 3-02 to 0-2.  Whatever was said at h/t Arklow came out flying scoring 1-02 in the opening few mins. Midfielder Luci Hobbs picked the ball on the half back line and went the length of the field to set up Elle Merrigan for her second goal. After that St. Pat's began to dominate which saw Keela Dunne scoring the fifth goal and further points from Aine Kavanagh, Siobhan Gorman and Luci Hobbs left the final score 5-6 to 1-5. The defence played well throughout and was well marshalled by Aine M Kavanagh in goal, Full backs Ellen Griffen, Amy O Dogherty, Hannah Dawson and half backs Kerri O Toole, Michaela Dickenson along with Chloe O Donavan who had a super game. On Saturday in Div1 St. Pat's U14a ran out convincing winners over Tinahely with a 10-13 to 0-2 scoreline. The next game is away to St. Nicholas w/e 12/13 Sept. At the end of the match Terry Canavan from the Wicklow Ladies County Board presented the Div1 League shield to Weronika Kuzio and her teammates. The girls secured the title a few weeks earlier. Once again well done to everyone involved.

There was a good turnout on Tuesday evening at U8 hurling training, despite the rain. Lots of guys are improving on their striking both off the ground and from the hands. This week's Players of the Week went to U8 Elliott Gaynor and U7 Cathal Cannon.
