The GPA is none too impressed with Paddy Power's use of player images in their GAA Hot 100 campaign.

The Irish Daily Star reports that the players' body is incensed that the betting company used amateur players for commercial gain.

In its latest publicity stunt, Paddy Power carried out a survey in which it asked 1,000 American females to pick the 100 hottest GAA stars.

The GPA, which has worked extensively to combat the escalating problem of gambling in recent years, sent out a text message to their members on Thursday which read: 'NO permission was granted to betting company today for exploitation of player images for publicity-seeking promo. Pls don't promote their brand #showrespect'.

In response, Paddy Power spokesman Feilim Mac An Iomhaire said: "What we did was purely a bit of craic.

"We haven't infringed on the rights of any player, there's no question of that.

"If the GPA want to look into the matter further, they're more than welcome to."
