Blessington GAA Notes

August 17, 2015

Seniors - Campus Oil Div 1 football league match at home v Bray on Tues 18 at 7.15pm.

Intermediates - Hard luck to our Intermediates who lost to Ballincor in Roundwood on Fri 14 Aug in the Darcy Sand Intermediate football championship. A cracking game when you consider that both teams are out of the IFC and decided by two Chris Murphy goals in the first twenty minutes. The blues missed several great goal chances while at the other end their keeper Barry Behan made a great save early on from James Murphy. Ballinacor played well for the entire game led by Patrick Byrne at centre back and Conor Parsons up front. Final score 2-13 to 1-10. Scorers for Blesso: Jonathan Daniels (0-6), Jonathan Behan (1-3), Thomas Donohue (0-1). The Intermediates next match will be on Sun 23 Aug at home to Annacurra at 11.30am.

Junior B - Our lads are out in Valleymount on Tues 18 v Dunlavin at 7.15pm.

Minors - Challenge match at home v Kilmacud on Fri 21 Aug at 7.15pm.

Ladies Notes:

Senior ladies- Our senior ladies were in the SFC ladies semi final v Tinahely which took place in Ballinakill on Sun 16 Aug. The commitment of the ladies was terrific and they left it all on the pitch. This is a very young team and Blesso played against the wind in the first half and held Tinahely in the first half with Kim Connors making a couple of great saves. Half time Blesso were only 2 pts down at half time 1-6 to 1-4. The second half was very competitive and it was only in the last 10/15 mins that Tinahely pulled away. The ladies lost on a scoreline of 4-16 to 3-7.This was a big improvement on the same match this time last year when they were beaten by 30 pts.
