Rathnew go into the quarter finals  after a fine victory in the end against a valiant Bray side. There was very little in it up to the last 5 mins where Rathnew dug deeper and pulled away for the vital win. Some of the old war horses for Rathnew drew on all their guile and experience to help their team to victory. Fine displays from Leighton, Damien, Staff and Bruiser helped keep up the 'Villages' record of reaching this stage for the past 23 years. No one will want us in the draw but we still need to improve and build on this win. After the poor display last time out, it was heartening to see some of the old Rathnew fight back. The lads have been working hard and it showed yesterday, the hunger is back.So well done to Declan Byrne and he's management staff, and all the team captained by Nicky Mernagh.Final score Rathnew 3-9 Bray 1-10. You gave us something to cheer about yesterday. Roll on the quarter finals because Rathnew may have got in through the back door but we are not leaving till the parties over.

A busy week with all girls teams out.
Tuesday night the under 12 played a good sporting game vs Roundwood.they drew 3.2. A good result for rathnew as Roundwood in a division higher than ourselves.
On thurs night the under 14 hosted a mini blitz with 2 wins out of 3.
On sat morn under 10 played a mini blitz in bray. Out of 4 games they won 2, drew 1 & lost 1.
All teams are making good steady progress & great to see support for all ages.last year we only had 12 girls registered by the end of May & this year it had increased to nearly 50!! New faces still coming too !

Our Annual Golf Classic for the Kevin Gill Perpetual Trophy takes place in Wicklow Golf Course on the 15th of August. There is a holiday up for grabs for the winners, nearest the pin gets a new Smart TV. Burgers and prize winning sausages on the 10th tee sponsored by Anita and Kevin of Healy's Mini Market. Rathnew GAA Club would like to give notice that the Club Kitchen is off limits to the general public. We regret any convenience caused but some people were using it as a drop in centre. We advise all Gym members to bring their own drinks from now on .
