The Fund-raising Committee would like to thank all who supported our Cube event in the Arklow Bay on Saturday 8th August and made it such a success. Well done to all the competitors but especially the overall winner Ray Nolan who represented Avondale.

County Development Draw
The 3rd Garden County Grand Development Draw 2015 took place in Ballinakill, on Monday 27th July 2015. AGB had no winners on this occasion. Better luck next time!

Bag Pack
Thanks to all who supported and helped out in the Bag Pack in Dunnes Stores for the Carers Association of Ireland on the 24th of July.

No Summer Camp
The club has decided to not go ahead with a summer camp this year. Apologies to all who expressed interest.

U14 Girls Cyclothon
The U14 girls held a Cyclothon in the Bridgewater Shopping Centre on Saturday 25th July to fundraise for their Féile gear which looked great over Féile weekend. Thanks to Linda, Sarah, Lisa and Lucy for their help in supervising the fundraiser and to Lucy and Caoimhe for helping with the set up - but a special thanks to all the players who were available on the day. Thanks also to all who supported this worthy fundraiser. The next step is for all our players to get their sponsor cards back to Linda and Sarah and it will be a job well done!!

Senior and Junior Ladies
AGB Senior Ladies played round 2 of the championship on Sunday August 9th against Bray in Pearses' Park. AGB had already defeated Blessington and Blessington in turn, had beaten Bray so this was a must win for Bray to avoid exiting the championship. The valiant Bray side battled throughout the sixty minutes but the AGB forwards were relentless leaving the final score 5-17 to 1-8 in favour of AGB. Attention now turns to next Sunday August 16th in Ballinakill, where Tinahely take on Blessington at 1pm and AGB will face Baltinglass at 2.30pm in the Senior Championship semi-finals.

For full report see: www.arklowgaa.com.

The AGB Junior Ladies had an evening of hilarity recently with their own Olympic games organised by Mairead Hurley and Michelle Scanlon. Thanks to all who helped make this event a great success. It's back to business now as the Ladies will take on Barndarrig in championship on August 11th and their second round game is scheduled for August 17th against Carnew.

Training continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays for both panels.

AGB U14 Girls DIV 1 League Runners-up 2015.
There was no sun up in Wicklow on the 5th of August but the U14 girls from AGB and St. Pats brightened up underage football in the County with another cracking game. With no let up from the rain all day, the stage was set for a game that was to decide the Div 1 League title. Victory for Pats would see them winners while a victory for AGB would mean a play-off.

AGB won the throw in but it was Pats to register a first point of the half. Arklow responded with a goal and both teams traded scores over the half to see the Wicklow ladies lead by 3 at half time. Both teams looked to tighten up and scores were at a premium in the second period but Pats did manage to stretch out to a 7 point lead. However AGB's never say die attitude saw the arrears reduced to just 3 and this was how it finished with St. Pats declared League winners and AGB as Runners-up. Final Score: St. Pats 3-7 AGB 3-4.
So many positives to take from a great League campaign and this result proves once again that there really is very little between these two excellent young teams.

Championship is just around the corner and the girls will focus now on having a good run and see where it takes them. Thanks to the many supporters who braved the lovely Irish weather!!

U10 and U8 Girls
AGB U10 girls finished their league campaign on the 26th of July with a win away to Castletown. In a very entertaining and exciting game the girls won 2-7 to 2-1. With only 1 defeat from 6 league games, the girls have performed great and have showed great improvement from game to game. Well done to all the girls. The U8 girls also had a terrific performance against Castletown supporting the U10s ahead of their great win. The U8's and U10's also played a blitz in Kilanerin on Saturday the 8th of August. A great morning and great to see so many of the girls there.

U10 Boys
The U10 boys were represented by two strong teams at their home blitz on the 25th of July. Unfortunately Carnew were the only other U10 team able to take part. So it was the perfect opportunity to have a training match - and what a game! I would like to thank all the players that took part and let them know that we are very proud of their efforts in the blitz and we would like them to continue training hard over the coming weeks ahead.
