Blessington GAA Notes

April 20, 2015

Senior Notes:

Senior game v Bray on Fri 17 Apr is off and re-fixed for Tues 12 May.

Minors - Blessington Minors played Michael Dwyers away in Kiltegan with a very young team and lost by 7 points.

Wicklow Minors - Hard luck to Wicklow Minors beaten on Sat 18 Aprl in Blessington  by Longford 1-08 to 1-14 especially to our club lads Peter, Wacker, Conor, Jack and their Kilbride colleague Aaron. They now face Laois in the back door on 6th May but if Leaving practical's are on the same day it will be Sat 9th May.

Ladies notes: Junior Ladies - On Sun 19 the last Cup game was held at home  V St NIcks which Blesso lost. Dunlavin 3-7  Blessington 1-3.What a difference from our first game against Dunlavin. While the score board showed a defeat Blesso created a lot of chances and should have gone in at half time ahead but for  wide's (something to work on), 3 of which came of the post with an additional 4 saves by the Dunlavin keeper. So many positives to take form this game, fitness levels are up. Blessington created 18 scoring chances in the first half alone. Way more commitment and determination in the tackle huge improvement.  All in all it didn't feel like a defeat the tempo was up, the ball was end to end and a really good performance against a good intermediate team. To have 25 players turn up for a 2nd lady's team  is fantastic and really bodes well for ladies football in Blessington. Training Wednesday 7:45 to 9pm. Next Game: Blessington V  Tinahely: Saturday 25th  6:3pm  TBC Away. Newtown V Blessington 2: Saturday 9th 6:30 TBC Home.

Gaelic for Mothers & Others: Training Wednesday 6:50 to 8:15. Well done to Maurine Higgins and Gail Phibbs on the recent taking part in the recent marathon.

Wicklow Minors - Well done to the WIcklow Ladies football team who were victorious over Laois in the semi final of the Leinster Minor C Championship on Sat 18 Apr. They will now take on Meath in the Final. Well done to Blessington representatives Molly, Amy, Shauna and Jess.

U8's had first home game in NKL on Sat 18 Apr against Maynooth. Both teams played really entertaining football with nothing between them at the end. All our players played really well with standout performances by Conor O'Toole, Ryan Keogh and Harry Wilso.
