Wicklow bid to avoid wooden spoon

Wicklow could finish bottom of Division Four of the national football league if they lose to London on Sunday.

To finish bottom of the pile would represent a disaster for the Garden County, but this seems unlikely as they are facing a London side that has managed just a single point from their six games so far (gathered when they drew with Waterford last weekend).

Wicklow have three points campared to London's one, plus a much better scoring difference, but the Exiles would eclipse the Garden County on the head-to-head rule if they beat them.

However, even if Wicklow lose, they could stil avoid bottom place as Waterford also currently have three points. Should Na Deise lose to Leitrim on Saturday, they would remain on three points and the head-to-head would no longer count and scoring difference would separate the three teams at the bottom. London would then finish bottom - unless they can beat Wicklow by eight points or more.

Of course, the best way for the Garden County to avoid all of this is to put the depleted Exiles to the sword on Sunday afternoon!
