Blessington GAA Notes

March 30, 2015

Senior Notes:Seniors - Two games this week for our Seniors. First up is an away game to Rathnew on Tues 31 Mar at 8pm and Sat at home to Tinahely at 6pm.

Wicklow Seniors - Hard luck to Wicklow who played away to Antrim on Sun 29 Mar. Wicklow were beaten by the narrowest of margins 1-10 to 0-12. Blessington were represented by Anto, Paul, Mick and Kevin John.

Next up is Westmeath in Blessington next Sat 4 Apr at 11.30am. Blessington are well represented by Martin Shannon, Patrick O Connor, Peter Manning, Conor Kenny, Jack Cotter and their Kilbride Colleague Aaron Curran.

Ladies notes:

Seniors - Our seniors had a good win over Eadestown in a friendly on Sun 29 Mar at home. Final score 3-98 to 2-04. Scorers - Roisin Ellis (2-0), Molly Cullen (0-4), Ellen Quinn (1-0), Jade Palmer (0-2), Katie Charles (0-1) and Shauna Byrne (0-1). Good performances on the day from Captain Molly Cullen, Emma Sargent Kelly, Amy Ryan and Shona O'Connor. This challenge was good preparation ahead of our League match v Coolkenno on Good Fri at home at 6.45pm.

Juniors - The juniors played the third round of the Cup away and lost to Valleymount on Sat evening. The game was lost in the first half, finding it hard to win possession from kickouts. The ladies created chances but couldn't find the target. The 2nd half was a complete turnaround with the girls showing well for kickouts and winning all but one kickout with plenty of movement off the ball. A lot of chances created but found it hard to convert them into scores. In the 2nd half the girls were better player for player than Valleymount and every player left everything on the pitch and nobody could ask for any more commitment or effort. There has been improvement's in each game and the experience playing tougher opposition in the Cup should pay off come the league. Training as usual Wed 8 to 9pm. Upcoming fixtures - Junior's v Enniskerry at home on Sat 4 Apr at 6.30pm (2nd  Round of the league). Wed 8 Apr: To be confirmed:  Away V Kilbride (postponed 1st round league fixture). Sun 19 Apr: (Time to be confirmed) at Home V St. Nicholas (4th round cup game).
