Footballers set for Division Four stay

March 12, 2015

Wicklow will be in Division Four of the national football league again in 2016.

Last weekend's 0-9 apiece draw with Carlow at Dr Cullen Park effectively ended the Garden County's slim hopes of achieving promotion to the third tier.

Johnny Magee's men have gathered just three points from four outings thus far and must now take a backseat as Offaly, Longford, Carlow and Antrim fight it out for the top two places in the division.

At the end of a poor encounter at DCP on Sunday, Wicklow had a chance to snatch victory but Dean Odlum's 21-metre free drifted wide - a near miss that pretty much sums up their campaign to date.
