Reality bites for Wicklow hurlers

March 12, 2015

Only a near-miracle will save the Wicklow hurlers from relegation to Division 2B of the national hurling league.

Last weekend's defeat to London leaves the Garden County adrift at the foot of the 2A table, pointless after three games. To have any hope of survival, they will have to win their last two matches.

But these are two extremely difficult assignments- and both are away from home!

This Sunday, Casey O'Brien's charges travel to Mullingar to face a Westmeath side that thumped Kerry last weekend. Even if they somehow win that, they would still have to go to Celtic Park in the last round and generate another victory over high-flying Derry.

Looks like it's time to switch attention to the Christy Ring Cup!
