Wicklow Camogie Volunteer of the Year

February 23, 2015

Billy Burke from Kilcoole Camogie Club is Wicklow's Camogie Volunteer of the Year.
Billy and his family were guests of the Camogie Associaion at a function in Croke Park on Saturday when Awards were presented to Volunteers from all corners of the country and beyond.

Billy has worked tirelessly for over 20 years to promote and develop the game in the Kilcoole area primarily and has also promoted playing for the County and wearing the Wicklow jersey as the ultimate aim of every player he has come across in that time.
He is current Commander in Chief of the Kilcoole Senior Camogie team. During this time he has been involved in every possible aspect of running a Camogie Club - from training teams and all that goes with that to Fundraising in order to finance the activities.

A worthy winner and representative of volunteers all over Wicklow who work away behind the scenes without reward year after year in the County's 14 Camogie Clubs (soon to be 15), Billy and his family had a great day out and he is pictured receiving his award from Camogie Association President Aileen Lawlor.
Remember: ' Volunteers are not paid because they are worthless but rather because they are PRICELESS' !!
Congratulations Billy.
