FL4: Na Deise continue winning ways

Fresh from winning the McGrath Cup, Waterford opened their league account with a superb 0-14 to 0-10 defeat of Wicklow at Fraher Field tonight.

The winners led by 0-9 to 0-7 at the break thanks to late points from Gavin Nugent, Patrick Hurney and Shane Ahearne.

Wicklow notched the first two points of the night via John McGrath (free) and Conor McGraynor but Liam Lawlor, Michael Curry, Hurney (2) and Aherne had the hosts ahead after 18 minutes, 0-5 to 0-4.

The winners kept the Garden men scoreless for the first 30 minutes after the restart and pulled clear with points from Tadhg O hUallachain, Michael O'Halloran, Mark Ferncombe and Aherne.

Wicklow rallied late on but Tom McGlinchey's men were full value for their victory.
