Mikey O'Connor's first-half goal proved all the difference as Blessington denied Rathnew a league and championship double last Saturday in Bray.

Blessington edged an even first-half thanks to O'Connor's strike, which left Rathnew, minus the services of Leighton Glynn, trailing by 1-6 to 0-7, and in the second-half they kept their foot to the floor.

Points from O'Connor, Jonathan Daniels and Bryan Carroll proved salient for the winners I the second-half as the county championship hit back with a goal of their own via Graham Merrigan and points from Ed Doyle.

It wasn't enough however, as Blessington held on for a deserved win which saw Anthony McLoughlin rounding off the victory for them.
