Blessington mentor banned for 96 weeks

October 30, 2014

Wicklow County Board has hit a Blessington mentor with a 96-week ban from all GAA activities.

The ban arises following incidents at a recent Division Two league clash with Ballymanus at Tinahely.

A Blessington player was struck off the ball during the game and suffered a broken jaw as well as damage to his teeth.

The Blessington mentor subsequently took it upon himself to enter the field after the final whistle and have it out with one of the opposition players.

Chairman Michael Sargent confirmed to The Wicklow People that the two-year ban had been served and, in relation to the injured Blessington player, added that "he's home from hospital and has three months of torture ahead of him".
