The Minor footballers play Avondale on Wednesday at 7.30 in Newtown in the Minor B Championship semi-final and we wish Ciaran and the boys all the best in their quest for glory. The under 8's are training in the sports hall every Tuesday from 6 to 7. They will continue to train right up until Christmas. On the subject of Under 8's we would like to send our congratulations to our Under 8 manager Colm and his bride to be Lisa who are getting married on Friday. Training continues for girls on Wednesday nights from 6.50 to 7.50. We cater for all ages and new faces are always most welcome. If you are available and would like to help either the girls or the lads teams please call up to the Community Centre during the above times. Indeed we are hopeful that next year we will have girls teams at Under 8, 10, 12, 14 and minor so we will need mentors / helpers at all these grades. If you think you can help in any way and are interested please contact Shay at 0872699620 or Gemma at 0863989433. There was no winner of last week's Lotto and the prize fund now stands at a healthy € 2,600 - a nice bonus for the winner in the run up to Christmas. The numbers drawn were 10, 22, 26, 27. There was only one person who predicted 3 numbers and received € 200. We would like to extend our best wishes on a speedy recovery to Kilmac player, Shane Vickers, who was involved in a car accident recently. Finally on a sad note last week saw the passing of John Shortt. John, a stalwart of the club in the 50's and 60's, was part of a family steeped in Newtown G.A.A. and he will be missed particularly by his wide circle of friends. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends at this time.
