Rathnew's Leighton Glynn hasn't given up hope on facing Moorefield in the Leinster club championship next month.

The Wicklow legend sat out last weekend's first-round provincial win over Rathvilly of Carlow and has been all but ruled out of the November 9th quarter-final against the Kildare champions after undergoing surgery on his thumb.

But Glynn never says never...

"They said six weeks from the op. When we play Moorefield, it will be four weeks so sometimes, you know, you can shave a week or two off," he says in The Irish Daily Mirror.

"You never know, it might heal well."

As for missing out on representing Ireland in the International Rules due to the same injury, the dual star adds: "He [Paul Earley] more or less said 'you would have been in the squad' but with that injury you can't train for four or five weeks and the training is intense. Please God, they'll do well."
