Wicklow football manager Johnny Magee will try to encourage Leighton Glynn to reconsider his intercounty retirement.

The Garden County great last week announced his retirement from intercounty football as he intends to focus solely on hurling next year, but new boss Magee hasn't completely given up on the Rathnew star featuring for the footballers in 2015:

"No county would like - or could afford - to lose a player of Leighton Glynn's tremendous calibre and experience," the Dubliner says in The Irish Daily Mirror.

"So I intend having a word with Leighton in the hope that he will give county football a shot for one more season.

"However, I will postpone approaching Leighton for a number of weeks. After the county final win, Rathnew will be involved in the Leinster championship and of course Leighton will be playing in that.

"As well, at the moment, he is involved in training with the International Rules squad and hopefully he will be named to travel to Australia. So, for the time being, I will let Leighton concentrate on that and when he is finished with those I will have a word with him."
