The defending Wicklow senior football champions are still building, according to Rathnew manager Declan Byrne.

A bold statement from a side that are currently the kingpins of Wicklow football and one that will send a chill down the spine of all opponents as they prepare for yet another county final against old rivals St Pat's.

"I know it sounds a bit foolish to say it but we're still building. We're still in the building mode. I know people probably won't think that we are, but we really are," Byrne told the Wicklow People.

"We're still trying to bring young lads in and hopefully we'll have brought them on a little bit more. I think we're a steadier team than we were last year. We've come on a little bit more and we're a tighter unit."
