Blessington GAA notes

September 22, 2014

Senior Notes:

Seniors - Our Senior team were invited to play in the prestigious Kilmacud 7s on Sat 20 Sep. They played 3 games in total and went on to win two of their 3 games. In the first game they beat Kilmacud Crokes (Dublin) 3-12 to 3-06. In the second game they beat Parnells (London) 3-14 to 1-08. In the final game they lost to Clonduff (Down) 4-12 to 3-09. Unfortunately, only the top team from each group progressed to the next round and the lads were knocked out despite making a great account for themselves. A great day out was had by all.

Jun A - Our Junior A's are busy preparing for their championship Semi-final where they will play Largagh next Sun Sept 28 at 1.30 in Aughrim. All support welcome.

Jun C - Our Jun C team are into the county final after beating Lacken 2-08 to 2-05 in a tough game. Team R Gilligan,. Subs L Brennan, S Phibbs, C Walsh, S Breen and D McEnroy. So it's heads down now and lots of hard training for the final.

Juvenile Notes:

U8's - Remember that we're having our skills test Tuesday 23rd Sep. Girls start at 18.00. Boys 18:30.

U10's - U 10 footballers took part in the Kilmacud Crokes blitz on Sat 20 Sep against star studded opposition in the form of Bellaghy from Derry, St June's and Kilmacud from Dublin and Clan Na Gael from Roscommon. They played superbly in the first game and we were unlucky to draw against the host club. Next up were a very strong St Jude's who won well in the end. The last 2 games were very close with Blessington going down by 2 scores in each game. It was a great experience for the lads and something they will learn a lot from. A big thank you to all the support who travelled.

U12's - Our U12's played Donard/The Glen on Mon 15 Sep at home and were beaten. They also had to face the same opposition in the Final of the Mini Festival in Ballinakill 5 days later Sat 20 Sep where they were beaten again. This is the end of the season for the U12's. The lads will continue to train for another couple of weeks.

U14's  - Our U14's had a terrific match away to St Pat's on Sat 20 Sep. We were level going into the second half. Unfortunately, Pat's came back fighting and ran home winners by 7 points. They are top of the group having won all their games. Blessington gave them a good run on Sat. We now go into the Shield along with Avondale, Newtown and the loser of Baltinglass and Tinahely.

U16's - Our U16's will continue with training and we expect a firm date this week for the play off.

Minors - Minor footballers will play St Pat's on Sat 27 Sep at 1.00pm in Bray Emmets in the Minor Championship Semi Final. All supporters most welcome for this game.
