Leinster final date looms for U21 hurlers

July 17, 2014
The Wicklow U21 hurlers will face Kildare in the Leinster U21 'A' hurling final on Wednesday next, July 23rd.

The match will take place in Newbridge, with a 7:30 throw-in and is a repeat of last year's decider, which the Lilywhites won.

The Garden County cruised through to the final by virtue of a facile 6-30 to 0-3 demolition of Louth at Aughrim last week when twelve different players got on the scoreline and all five substitutes got a championship run-out for the entire second half.

Manager Michael Neary is working off a squad of 36 and competition for places in the team is understood to be fierce.

On the evidence of their performance in their first competitive outing of the year (albeit against very poor opposition), Wicklow can travel to Newbridge midweek next week full of confidence.

Their opponents overcame Meath in the other semi-final, pulling away in the second half for a comfortable victory.
