SENIOR FOOTBALL
Our senior footballers played in the qualifier section of the championship on Sunday last in Aughrim against Newtown. After a very slow start which saw Newtown lead by five points, Carnew slowly found their rhythm. A goal by Liam Kennedy before half-time saw us go in at the break down by one. We started the second half alot better and got into a five point lead mid way through the half, however basic errors and wrong decisions allowed Newtown back into the game and they levelled the tie just at the end. Cormac Doyle was very solid as stand in goalie and kept a clean sheet. Others to play well were Oisin Doyle who played a captain's part, Liam Kennedy and Adrian Myers who got on alot of ball. A big improvement needed for the next day out and alot of football !
